Vespa Piaggio scooter steampunked by Greek artist

The Vespa Piaggio scooter is an iconic design that has ruled the hearts and minds of European people as well as the populations of many developing world countries where this scooter was exported. As a cultural symbol, the scooter is synonymous with narrow lanes of ancient cities though its design has been widely copied by two wheeler manufacturers around the world. even though the chunky silhouette of the Vespa evokes images of romantic old world locations and backpacking through these countries, there are people who think the scooter deserves to break free from its family-friendly image and be given an edgy makeover.

Perhaps that is what prompted profound Greek sculptor and artist Coffin Cris to collaborate with Pulsar Projects to create this edgy new variant of the Vespa. Fashioned in true steampunk style, the Vespa Guardian is a retrolicious creation that seeks to merge the aesthetic elements of steampunk design with the classic functionality of the ever loved Vespa scooter. Whether the modification will prompt the population of the first world into adopting the legendary Italian auto symbol as a part of their daily lives remains to be seen though we can say with fair confidence that retro auto lovers and appreciators of the steampunk movement will simply adore this fantastical creation.

The retro Steampunk wonder comes with a silverfish, brass and copper finish that is typical for artwork created using the pseudo-Victorian aesthetic. To allow the vehicle to serve as a proper and functional modern vehicle, it has also been fitted with goodies like bright blue LED lights on the dash to show the vehicle’s vital stats and performance on road. Chrome finish brake pedals, clutch and tires allow the creation to earn its rightful place in the Vespa Piaggio Museum.
