Video: 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Filmed Testing at Nordschleife
The 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is arguably the most extreme Camaro ever produced.
While it may pump out 80hp less than the 580hp Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, it’s even more track-focused and is three seconds faster around Chevrolet’s test track than the ZL1.

As a result, it only seems inevitable that the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 will beat the ZL1’s Nurburgring lap time of 7 minutes, 41 seconds and based on the following clip, testing for such a venture has already began.
Thanks to Nurburgdale on YouTube, a heavily camouflaged Z/28 prototype was spotted speeding around Green Hell and the following clip showcases that and the Z/28’s insane exhaust note!

Video: Chevrolet Dissects Driving Experience of 2014 Corvette Stingray
In the latest addition of Chevrolet’s new promotional video series for the brand new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, the team looks into the driving experience of the car and how it’s been tweaked and perfected with the help of real-life racing drivers.
Throughout the video, Chevrolet looks into great detail into how the brand new technology in the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray completes the brand new American supercar and how the five different driving options provide different responses for every possible road and track condition.

The electronic differential in the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is arguably the most advanced single piece of technology in the new car and can alter the amount of torque being sent from one side of the car to the other side, and this helps to ensure that the new Corvette feels perfect no matter where it’s being driven.

Video: Ken Block Racing Skiers in Russia

Did seeing the name Ken Block in the title immediately conjure up thoughts of a new Gymkhana flick? Unfortunately, that’s not the case today but the Ken Block video we do have for you is equally impressive.
Filmed completely from a selection of GoPro Hero2 HD cameras, the clip involves Ken Block racing some rogue skiers through the wintering forests of Russia.

However, the most impressive thing about this clip are not the actual driving skills, but instead the incredible shots achieved by the dozens of GoPro’s fitted inside and outside of Ken Block’s Ford Focus racer!

Video: Fast & Furious 6 Parody with R/C Cars

- 0 коментара

If you can believe it, the Fast and Furious film franchise rocketed into the spotlight almost 13 years ago. Since then, the films have seen nothing but box office success after box office success.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQFmZpDvb6U
And while many car enthusiasts take umbrage in the often ridiculous driving and stunts performed in the films, they still flock to them in droves (the stunts are pretty cool, to be fair). And with the newest iteration of the franchise just around the corner, YouTube user nitrocrx created a parody only car guys could love. The action packed trailer for the 6th installment of the franchise was released a few months ago, and in that short amount of time, Nitro was able to create a very well produced and edited parody that places R/C cars in place of their real life counterparts.

Kymera Electric Jet Board

- 0 коментара

Ever felt that a jetski is too bulky and expensive, but kicking your legs on a body board too much hard work? Well the electric-powered Kymera Jet Board might just be the answer to your dilemma.

The Kymera, which is currently trying to gain some added traction via Kickstarter, is the world’s first electric powered body board. It’s taken ten years and seven prototypes to get this far. The watercraft is based around a rotomolded polyurethane hull with integrated flotation to make sure it never sinks. Power comes from 1,000Wh Lithium Polymer battery and a 1,000W RMS brushless motor. That should give an average run time of 1 hour and an approximate range of 5-6 miles. It couldn’t be simpler to operate. A simple trigger throttle controls speed, and leaning your body left or right controls direction.

Compared to a jetski it’s not that quick, 10 – 15 mph (depending on the rider’s weight). But with your face just inches from the water it should feel a lot quicker. In Kymera’s world, boats are like cars, jetskis are like motorbikes, and the electric jet board is like a go kart.

It’s not just about playing around though. Kymera also has a serious side, and that’s life-guarding duties. Because it only weighs 48 lbs (22 kgs) it can quickly and easily carried from the beach to the water’s edge, and from there the lifeguard can zoom out to struggling swimmers. A remote control option would also be available for life-guarding models, allowing rescues to be performed without anyone else having to get into the water – especially useful in extremely hazardous situations.

Charging of the Kymera’s battery can be done either by a charger plugged into any domestic socket. Or via a roof rack system with built-in solar cells allowing the battery to be fully charged in 3.5 hours – assuming the sun is playing fair!

Ferrari LaFerrari

- 0 коментара

The LaFerrari marks the first time Ferrari has used a hybrid system in a production road car. Derived from the KERS system used in Ferrari’s F1 cars, the hybrid drivetrain of the LaFerrari uses a 789 horsepower 6.3 litre V12 engine backed up by a 160 horsepower electric motor. That’s a combined total of 949 horsepower and 663 lb-ft of torque. The high torque levels provided by the electric motor at low rpms allowed Ferrari’s engineers to optimise the V12′s performance at higher revs. The result is a car which can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in under three seconds and continue on to a 205 mph top speed.

The body of the LaFerrari employs a number of active aerodynamic features designed to improve downforce, efficiency, handling and stability. Computer analysis and fine tuning in the wind tunnel has resulted in a car with one of the highest levels of aerodynamic efficiency in the world. Active aerodynamic devices front and rear generate downforce when needed without compromising the car’s overall drag coefficient. These devices deploy automatically on the basis of a number of different performance parameters which are monitored in real time by the car’s dynamic vehicle controls.

On the inside the Ferrari LaFerrari is both stylish and functional. The seat is fixed and tailored to the driver while both the pedal box and steering wheel are adjustable. The driving position is similar to that of a single-seater and was designed with input from Ferrari’s F1 drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa. A newly-designed steering wheel host all the major controls, and the gear-shift paddles are now longer and more ergonomic. Exposed carbon fiber and suede cover almost ever surface giving the interior a distinctly race-car like feel.

Oh and getting back to that dumb name. This is what Ferrari’s President, Luca di Montezemolo had to say on the matter: “We chose to call this model LaFerrari because it is the maximum expression of what defines our company – excellence.”
Well that’s cleared that up then.

Ferrari LaFerrari Specifications:

Engine: 6.2 litre V12 789 horsepower
Electric motor: 16o horsepower
Transmission: 7-Speed DCT
Suspension Front/Rear: Double wishbones/multi-link
Tires Front/Rear: Pirelli P-Zero 265/30/R19 -  345/30/R20
Brakes: Brembo carbon ceramic
Length: 4702 mm
Width: 1992 mm
Height: 1116 mm
Wheelbase: 2650 mm
Weight distribution: 41% front / 59 % rear

Originally designed for use in a military context, mercedes-benz have announced they will be implementing a 6x6
all-wheel drive to their high-performance AMG G-class line - making it the company's second most expensive
model behind the SLS electric.

despite weighing almost 4000kg, and being equipped with standard 37 inch wheels, the AMG G63 SUV is fitted
with a twin-turbocharged 5.5-litre V8, boasting 536 horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque bringing it from
0-100 km/h (62mph) in just over 6 seconds. a 7-speed automatic gear-box and five locking differentials give full

ride control - where compressor tanks for its tire inflation system give the vehicle the ability to travel in any conditions,
regardless of the terrain. unlike military cockpits, the G63 is adorned in typical AMG fashion - with full alcalantra
leather interiors, heavily contoured sport seats and a spacious rear passenger cabin.

Lamborghini Veneno

- 0 коментара

Lamborghini is all set to make a splash at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, which opens its doors this week. Their headline act is this, the bonkers Lamborghini Veneno. It’s based on an Aventador chassis, has a 6.5 litre V12 engine which churns out 740 horsepower, it can catapult itself to 62 mph (100 km/h) in under 3 seconds, and can hit a 220 mph top speed.

But perhaps the most astonishing thing about the Veneno is its price, $4.6 million (£3.1). But as ususual Lamborghini hasn’t had a problem shifting the cars. Only three will be made, and already all of them are spoken for. Interestingly the three cars come with three different highlighting colors, one red, one white and one green – the colors of the Italian flag.

The Veneno was built to commemorate Lamborghini’s 50th anniversary. It’s covered from top to bottom in carbon fiber bodywork which looks like it was inspired by a surgeon’s scalpel. The numerous intakes and spoilers, including that massive rear wing, are all designed to provide as much downforce as possible to make the car a bit of a track weapon. It is road legal though.
But that price. Wow. For the same money you could literally have 10 Lamborghini Aventadors! Is a spikey new body and 40 extra horsepower really worth that much more? In a word… No.
And just in case you were wondering, Veneno means Venom in Spanish.

Ferrari Hydroplane

The racing boat comes fitted with a 4.5 liter 12-cylinder Ferrari engine that will make it roar like an angry beast when unleashed. The speed coated ride is fitted with the same engine that used to power Ferrari F1 race cars back in 1950s.

The design is quite eye appealing and manages to fetch the much required attention. It raced last in the year 1960 and completed numerous fastest laps, which till date stands strong and far from being broken by any other creation in this category. Arno X1 is expected to fetch a good $1.3 million to $1.9 million at the auction. The boat will be accompanied by handwritten notes from none other than Gioacchino Colombo (a Ferrari engineer) and a collection of period photos.
Arno X1 is a true picture of beauty combined with great performance. If you are a serious car collector, then0 this sure should be on your hot list.

Amphibious Scamander RVs

- 0 коментара

So, what exactly is the Scamander capable of? For starters, it’s powerful owing to the V6 engine it’s been fitted with that outputs about 300 horses. This takes it to top speeds of 120 mph and a 0 to 60 mph sprint time of 8 seconds. And that’s not all, the RV can even tackle waters so if you ever wanted to cross that river to get to the other side, you can plough through with relative ease.

Land-Walker exoskeleton

- 0 коментара

The Land Walker exoskeleton is a product of Japanese company sakakibara-kikai. Used mainly for product promotion and display, the intimidating weaponry fires nothing but harmless soft plastic balls. And with a top speed of just 1mph it's not going to replace the wheel just yet.

However, standing over 3 metres in height, and weighing in at 1000kg (2,205 lbs) the Land Walker's shuffling gait is an impressive sight to behold. Although it would probably run into problems with anything but a completely smooth surface.

The single seat Land Walker is powered by a 250 cc engine and movement is controlled by four foot pedals. P.A. Technology supplied the computer software which helps to control the Land Walkers movement.

If you want to get your hands on your own moon-walking exoskeleton, price is in the region of $350,000 (£185,000).

McDonnell XF-85 Goblin

- 0 коментара

The McDonnell XF-85 Goblin was a prototype parasitic-fighter aircraft developed during the 1940s.

The XF-85 Goblin was designed to fulfill a USAAF request for an extremely compact single-seat fighter which could be carried aboard the Convair B-36 long-range bomber. The idea was that the B-36 could deploy the Goblin when enemy aircraft approached, meaning it would always have a fighter escort, no matter how long the mission was.

The XF-85 Goblin was very small, tiny in fact. It measured just 14 feet 10 inches (4.5 m) in length, and the wingspan was only slightly larger at 21 ft (6.4 m). Although when the wings were folded for storage within the B-36's fuselage the Goblin was only 5 feet wide (1.5 meters)!

Powering the McDonnell XF-85 Goblin was a Westinghouse J34-WE-7 turbojet which provided 3,000 lbs of thrust. There was no landing gear as the Goblin was expected to return to the mothership and be retracted back into the fuselage for a joint landing. The designers did however equip the Goblin with emergency skids so if needed it could be landed independently.

Despite its odd layout and minuscule dimensions, the program's only pilot, Ed Schoch reported that the XF-85 Goblin was stable, easy to fly, and spin recovery was relatively easy.

The main area of issue was during attempts to dock with the B-29 mothership - no B-36 was available for prototype testing so the older B-29 was used instead. The small size of the Gobin meant that it suffered terribly from turbulence when approaching the larger aircraft. On the aircraft's first flight, when Schoch was attempting to re-connect with the B29, sudden turbulence caused him to crash into the docking mechanism, shattering his canopy, ripping away his oxygen mask, and forcing him to land the XF-85 Goblin using the emergency skids on the desert below. Unfortunatley the damage was severe enough the first prototype never flew again.

McDonnell considered adding a telescoping extension to the docking trapeze so the docking would be done at a slightly greater distance, but the XF-85 program was canceled in mid-1949 before it could be tested.

The McDonnell XF-85 Goblin's cancellation was due to a variety of reasons. Firstly it proved to be much more difficult to dock than had been initially expected. Secondly, the increasing range of jet fighters and the introduction of in-flight refueling meant parasitic fighters were becoming an obsolete idea. Thirdly, tighter defense budgets meant unusual ideas - like the Goblin - were the first to be cut. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, the XF-85 Goblin was no match for the next-generation of jet fighters it would be up against.

Happily both prototype XF-85 Goblin's still exist. One is on display at the National Museum of the United States Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio. The other is housed at the Strategic Air and Space Museum in Ashland, Nebraska.

Jeep Hurricane - Dream Cars

- 0 коментара

The Jeep Hurricane's one-piece body is composed largely of light-weight carbon fiber. The Hurricane’s body also serves as the chassis, and all of the vehicle's components such as the engine's (yes there's two!), transmission, and suspension system are mounted directly to the body. The skid plate is an aluminum spine that connects the chassis to the underside of the vehicle. The Hurricane doesn’t have side doors or a roof, and there is only seating for two people.

Powered by two 5.7-liter HEMI engines, one in the front and one in the back, making a total of 670 horsepower, driving all 4 wheels the power is certainly there. And with fully controllable 4 wheel steering so is the maneuverability.

So the Jeep's claims are probably true!
