Dodge Challenger Vapor U.S. Air Force

- 0 коментара

American tuners Galpin Auto sports have created this custom for the U.S. Air Force to wheel out on their 2009 Super Car Tour.  This will be used as recruitment tools for the  military outfit.

The Dodge Challenger Vapor takes a different approach and features an all black matte finish designed to create a stealth bomber affect. Everything is black except for the headlights and tail lamps. Even the wheels are completely covered.

The stealth-black Air Force Challenger ‘Vapor’ features a biometric access to open the Vertical doors, a custom Stealth body kit with Jet enhancements and a carbon fiber exterior trim.

Inside, there is an infrared thermal imaging system paired with a heads-up display running the length of the windshield. This car also features a jet cockpit with three large LCD screens and switches to run with just two mufflers in whisper quiet mode.

The jet like feeling also translates to the Dodge Challenger Vapor thanks to the "radar-absorbing" stealth-black paintjob.  The military aspects only begin with the exterior look; stealth exhaust lets the vehicle run in near silence, but the driver can open the headers to create a surprise aggressive engine noise.  The Vapor requires biometric verification to gain entry to the driver compartment.  Once inside, the driver can view the night and thermal vision as it is projected onto the windshield.

However, if the driver is unable to get into the car, he or she can still command the vehicle from a remote control system modeled after the Air Force's Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.  The remote system can be accessed worldwide through the internet.

The interior of the ‘Vapor’ is complete with aircraft style controls, a passenger side steering wheel, GPS tracking, night and thermal vision via a film on the front windshield, and the most technologically-advanced computer system with remote control UAV-type access from anywhere in the world utilizing the internet.

Other exterior components include one-off carbon fiber wheels, a custom stealth exhaust mode that allows the vehicle to run in complete silence or you can open up the headers to facilitate the aggressive sound of the engine, shaker hood, radar-absorbing paint, proximity sensors, and a 360-degree camera with ¼ mile range.

The ‘Vapor’ also comes with two custom flight helmets in line with the Air Force theme of the vehicle.

Rebuilt 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Is Awesome

- 0 коментара

The idea of an old car with modern chassis and engine is hugely appealing. This 1968 Camaro Convertible is a classic case in point.

With cars like this you get the swell looks of the classic car, but none of the mechanical drawbacks. This magnificent Camaro is tastefully resorted on the outside and finished in Kolor Galaxy Gray. We wish it didn’t have those red stripes, but hey.

Under the bonnet you find a GM Performance Parts LS376/480 Hot Cam V8 with 480hp. It’s a reliable piece of kit with plenty of power to match the car’s fabulous style. It also gets modern transmission, cooling, electronics and stainless steel exhausts.

They have also replaced the prehistoric suspension of the original car with components from Hotchkis, Chris Alston’s Chassisworks, and Varishock. The brakes are also replaced with a powerful system from G-street. The car sports a set of 17-inch Foose Nitrous Chrome Legend wheels to maintain the retro look, but the tires are modern Fuzion ZR1s.

The interior is also redone and comes with some new amenities like a top notch stereo, but we’re not digging that sport steering wheel which is like the ones they put on cheaply modded Kias.

As you may have already guessed, this almost perfect blend of old and new does not come cheap, especially as it has only 409 miles on the clock. It is in fact $129,900. And that’s what you call very expensive.

Hennessey Ford GT100 TT Sets new Texas Mile Record at 267.6mph
American tuning specialists Hennessey Performance have done it again with one of their latest tuning Ford GT twin-turbo tuning packages setting a new record at the infamous Texas Mile drag racing event in the U.S.
The 1000hp Ford GT managed to break the previous record of 263.3mph by reaching a top speed of 267.6mph in just one mile!
This is the very same Hennessey Ford GT1000 which set the previous record last year, and the record before that of 257.7mph.
Now while this may sound amazing, it is short of the world record set late last year by the team at Performance Power Racing when they managed to catapult an equally insane Ford GT to 283.232mph in one mile.
Unfortunately, no footage of the feat has been released just yet but when it is, we’ll be sure to update you with it!

Hatsune Miku BMW mascotifies a classic

- 0 коментара

Everyone on the planet knows how crazy the Japanese are for mascots and all things cute and anime/manga. However, there are times when this craze for fictional animated characters ruins gems that us in the rest of the world hold dear. The Hatsune Miku version of the BMW Z4 GT3 created by TeamUKYO in collaboration with GSR & Studie is one such nerdy custom job that makes us cringe with pain every time we look at it.

Even though we are more than glad the customizers didn’t actually bestow a bunch of mythical abilities to the car using gadgetry we can only find in Japan, we are actually quite mortified to find the classic car covered in a full body paint that features a bunch of vocaloid symbols and images.

The nerdy vehicle is rightfully called “Itasha” which is a Japanese word that roughly and rightfully translates into “pain mobile”. Even though the description is a warning enough for anyone susceptible to seizures to stay away from this monstrosity, the Tokyo BMW Group Studio has given it the go ahead and the vehicle will in fact participate in the 2012 edition of the GT300.

The BMW Group Studio will display the Hatsune Miku BMW at their Tokyo-based showroom till December 13 though the makers of this thing intend on making it commercially available to interested customers. No word on pricing and availability for the vehicle has been provided at the moment by the makers of this outrageous vehicle.

The company has also not provided any information on whether customers would be able to order vehicles with additional images, slogan and mascot paint or not though if you are passionate enough about it you may be able to get a few of your favorite vocaloid imagery on there as well.

Audi Gentleman's Racer Concept could be a high flyer’s ultimate fantasy

- 0 коментара

When a vehicle is called “The Gentleman’s Racer”, one tends to begin to have certain expectations about it. The expectations about such a product surge even higher when we are presented with a name like the "Audi Gentleman's Racer Concept". This marvelous new concept comes to us courtesy of freelance Swedish designer Mikael Lugnegård which uses the old school silhouette of the classic American hot rods and combines it with the technology found in a contemporary Audi vehicle to create a vehicle that is simply retrolicious.

Using the neat and clinical lines, the concept recreates the authenticity and simplicity of hand built classic Audi coaches. The car's front end is dominated by a massive single frame grille which is actually derived from the current Audi grille design. The carbon fiber bodywork boasts of a smooth, sculpted shape that is conducive to racing and comes with an Ohlins-sourced racing suspension system to maintain the vehicle’s high performance. Powerful Brembo brakes provide stopping power to the vehicle which is fashioned around a lightweight aluminum spaceframe chassis.

The Audi Gentleman's Racer concept is designed to use the Audi R8 V10’s powertrain including the 525 bhp 5.2 liter V10 engine. The designer hasn’t given a full list of the specification that he would want to see featured in the retro futuristic vehicle just yet. The rear wheel driven concept gets a rather Spartan interior with a purposeful vibe being provided to the cabin via alcantara leather, aluminum and carbon fiber bits. Lugnegard says that the concept is aimed at a very exclusive, high class buyer who wants to ride around in a modern vehicle which is still classy enough in the traditional manner and emits a vibe of being historically relevant at the same time as well.

After positive reaction at the Geneva Motor Show on concept B6 Venator, Spyker has decided to start the serial production of supercars.
“Admission to the concept B6 Venator that was met in Geneva exceeded our expectations, so there is no doubt that he will get his serial version,” said CEO, Victor Muller. “It’s too early to tell the serial model specification, but I can tell you that the final design of the car will not be much different from the concept version,” Muller said in a statement to the media.

The concept shown in Geneva is characterized by a large grille (after the Spyker C8 Aileron), which gives the front of the car look very aggressive, as well as a transparent panoramic roof. Nelson Racing Engines creates a 2,000 hp 1969 Camaro

Nelson Racing Engines in collaboration with eGarage and Roadster Shop have joined forces for this custom 1969 Camaro.

The main highlight of this tuning project is the 2,000 hp (1491 kW) power output that was achieved by installing a NRE Billet Blackout Series twin-turbo intercooled 572 cubic inch Big Block Chevy crate engine connected to a 6-speed transmission and a twin 10.5-inch dual disc clutch.
That impressive power is transferred to the ground via a Strange 9-inch rear with nodular case and 35 spline axles. It comes with a 304 stainless NRE exhaust with x-pipe, while for cooling it gets an aluminum dual-row dual-pass radiator with twin high output electric fans.
It rides on HRE wheels wrapped in Drag Radial tires while the stopping power is provided by the electrically-assisted four wheel disc brakes. This custom Camaro uses dual-fuel injectors per cylinder with “octane on demand” and automatically injects racing gas in the secondary injector in boost-only conditions while running on 91 octane.
A video with this custom ’69 Camaro can be found here.
