Bubba Watson’s Crazy Idea – The BW1 Golf Cart /Video/

- 0 коментара

Oakley and PGA star Bubba Watson do not have better things to do than to devise crazy ideas. They came up with a crazy idea to travel across golf courts without leaving a footprint in the turf.
Bubba commissioned the BW1 Golf Cart , a hovercraft that floats above the grass and across water obstacles on an air bubble, yes, you need to keep the environment. Now this golf cart isn’t going to replace the current wheeled versions any time soon, but the concept does seem fantastically practical, particularly because of the fact that a vehicle like this does no harm to the well-manicured golf course.

This vehicle was developed by an Indiana-based company called Neoteric Hovercraft Inc. Also, the hovercraft golf cart fulfills all of the conventional requirements a golf enthusiast would look for in a vehicle as such, with the added advantage of a fun and exciting ride, instead of the traditionally slow wheeled cart.

Bubba’s craft is a modified version of an actual hovercraft that’s manufactured for both personal and professional purposes and you can order it for around$32,000.

TORQ Roadster By Epic EV – Fastest Electric Vehicle With Three Wheels

- 0 коментара

U.S. company Epic EV is partially revealed its new Roadster TORQsupposedly the fastest electric vehicle with three wheels in the world.

It is powered by an electric motor that develops from 400KS 812 Nm of torque, while the acceleration to 60mph takes just 4 seconds. The model was developed in cooperation with the Eleven Design, and equipped with the top suspension in the style of Formula 1, which produced Palatov Motorsports. For ultra lightweight chassis and battery system were in charge Magnum Offroad and Flux Power.

“In search of a more economic vehicle, we often wished for a model that distinguished aggressive styling, and that would be worthy of the racetrack. TORQ’s perfect balance of power, driveability and aggressive looks create its own class”, said Chris Anthony, founder of Epic EV.

TORQ Roadster is proof that you do not have to compromise performance to adopt energy saving and efficient technologies.

This year will be produced only 50 copies of this vehicle and the TORQ Roadster will be officially launched on April 6 and will retail for $65,000. A waiting list for 2014 is set up that anyone with a $5,000 deposit can join.

Green, economical alternatives for your car - GoPet

- 0 коментара

This Segway-shaped, three wheeler is powered electrically. Making use of a third wheel in the front ensures that the cost comes down dramatically since there is no need for the gyroscopic apparatus that the Segway uses. A 350W motor powers the front wheel giving the GoPet a top speed of about 16 mph. The range will be about 25 miles and the recharging time would be about 4-6 hours. An ideal and clean way to navigate short distances, the GoPet will be available from $1200.

MUV-e electric scooter syncs to a smartphone and folds into a backpack

- 0 коментара

Getting stuck in traffic is hardly appealing to city commuters. The crowded streets have compelled many people into buying bicycles and trying to kill the fitness bird and the traffic bird with a single stone. However, unless you have the good sense to work on your upper body strength while your lower limbs get a work or have the good fortune of working in an office with a dedicated parking lot, chances are that carrying your bikes up and down multiple stories twice a day really kills you. However, Israel based Amir Zaid really has come up the perfect way to revolutionize personal mobility and not in the creepy capitalistic car-for-one way.

The automobile designer and inventor joined forces with Autodesk, the noted CAD software company and came up with the MUV-e electric scooter. Even though the design really looks like a Segway and perhaps even functions like one, Zaid insists that it is nothing like it since it has the ability of being folded up into a handy backpack or a strolley.

The MUV-e electric scooter is not only ultra portable but eh little three wheeled wonder also makes a wonderful electric alternative to motorbikes and cars. All the variants of the model weigh between 25 to 30 lbs though all of them can be folded up into a trolley suitcase with a handle or a backpack.

Using a smartphone, users can command the MUV-e to fold up or fold down. During use, the smartphone can also be docked on the scooter’s handlebar where is can function like a navigator and speedometer for the portable transportation device. Zaid insists that the all-electric vehicle can go for around 20 miles on a single charge which won’t be helpful in intercity commutes but could make traveling over short distance less of a chore.

Sonic Wind rocket car eyes land speed record at 2000 mph

- 0 коментара

Here is great news for speed lovers, who crave to move at the speed of a bullet. A Californian man has created a rocket car, which he claims can move at a speed of almost 2000 mph. Yes, you read it right! The land rocket vehicle, christened Sonic Wind, will move at very high speeds and leave everyone wheezing.

British-designed Thrust SSC holds the current land speed record that stands at 763.025 mph or 1227.986 km/h, which was set in the year 1997. The craving to cross the 1000 mph or 1609.344 km/h mark in the coming years has been shown by two teams. One is the successor of thrust named Bloodhound SSC and the other is Aussie Invader 5R. But, for Waldo Stakes, 1000 mph was not enough and he created a land rocket that can touch a whooping speed of 2000 mph or 3218.688 km/h.

But, there is no stopping for Waldo. He is aiming to come up with something that will touch a top speed of more than 2000 km/h faster than the present record. This means the car will roll at a speed of approximately 900 meters per second. The creator has been working on the Sonic Wind Land Speed Research Vehicle project from the past nine years. The car will be very stable and the most powerful creation to rule the planet in coming times. All the acting forces will be used ingeniously to make sure the car is stable when it moves at an unbelievable speed.

Sonic Wind will fetch all the power to move at a monstrous speed from a recycled XLR99 rocket engine. The XLR99 rocket engine was crafted to propel an experimental X-15 plane by NASA in the 1950s. In the year 1976, the X-15 plane made a flight speed record of 4520 mph or 7274 km/h, which stands unbeaten till date. The rocket engine used in the Sonic Wind will be able to produce a thrust measuring 61,000 pounds, which will be possible because of the combination of methanol fuel and liquid oxygen.

Negative lift will be increased as the body of the rocket car alters its plane a bit in the nose area, creating shock waves on the front wheels. These shocks along with the ones radiated downward from the rear bi-wedge tail fins will be exploited in a great way during roll control. The rocket car will move ahead at a supersonic speed, which will be an experience in itself. Sonic Wind has a sleek and curvy silhouette, which adds to its overall sumptuousness. Now, all we have to see is who gets to savor the experience of moving ahead at a speed of 2000 mph, which will definitely manage to send in a lot of chill thrills.

Egg-shaped Hyundai E4U personal mobility vehicle revealed

- 0 коментара

We really don’t understand why the folks working at major auto companies are so obsessed with making personal mobility “vehicles”. Most of these seat a single person, don’t have enough space for a lot of cargo and don’t even have the kind of performance to make them truly exciting for speed heads. However, for some odd reason these continue to get made and the latest one of these comes to us courtesy of the innovators at the Advanced Design Department at Hyundai

Dubbed the E4U personal mobility vehicle, the new product is basically like a Segway scooter with a half covered up body. The yellow egg-shaped body also boasts of a windshield/helmet combo and boasts of a floor and feet controlled steering system. This system basically works something like a surfboard or a skateboard though it is powered by an electric engine.

The insect like pod has two safety wheels attached to the back of the legs which provide the pod with stability even when making a full 360 degree turn clockwise. Of course the pod shaped vehicle could revolutionize personal mobility and using these would certainly lessen traffic on the roads for sure.
However, there are a few design and performance problems that may need to be fixed before these can officially be launched in the market. First of all, the pods would need to be given an umbrella or a covering to prevent water from filling up the cup shaped pod during rains.

Then, they would need to be given power window like door opening and closure mechanism to make it more tight parking spot friendly. And since most people using a pod vehicle for personal mobility might find foot based navigation difficult (we also don’t know how compatible it would be with high heels), they might need to be given a traditional steering too.

Moller M400 Skycar

- 0 коментара

The M400 Skycar from Moller International is a VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft for public consumers. An onboard computer ensures that piloting the M400 is as easy as driving a car, just point the controls in the direction of desired travel.

The 4 passenger Moller M400 has a cruising speed of 275 mph, and a top speed of 375 mph, courtesy of 1200 horsepower from the 8 ethanol fueled Rotapower engines.

Safety in a vehicle like the Moller M400 is an important aspect, and therefore numerous safety features have been intergrated into the design including:
- Multiple engines, with the ability to operate with one or more out of action.
- Backup computer stabilisation systems.
- Aerodynamically stable glide ability.
- Dual parachutes, in the event of total loss of power the dual parachutes of the M400 can be deployed to bring the aircraft safely to the ground.

Batmobile (Batman Begins)

- 0 коментара

During the filming of 'Batman Begins' the movie makers used 8 different Batmobile's (called the Tumbler), four of which were drivable and surprisingly rapid. The Batmobiles were powered using 340 horsepower GM 350 V8's giving them a 0-60 time of around 5.3 seconds and a theoretical top speed of 220 miles per hour. The design is based on a cross between a Lamborghini Countach and a Humvee. The designer actually bought an airfix model of both the Countach and Humvee and played around with the models until the desired look was achived.
The four massive rear tyres are 44 inch 'super swampers' and the front axle is nonexistent instead the front wheels are on separate spars.

This transparent Canoe-Kayak offers the sort of harmony with nature only available from human-powered vehicles.

The hull is made from a transparent polymer identical to that found in fighter-jet canopy's. So it's not going to shatter if you scrape a rock or two. As a further safety measure the Transparent Canoe-Kayak has two floatation devices, fore and aft, as well as a lightweight anodized aluminium frame.

Adjustable seats accommodate people of all sizes, and a wide hull with a low seating position mean the Transparent Canoe-Kayak is relatively stable compared to similar sized canoes.

Briggs & Stratton Flyer : 1917

- 0 коментара

During our six-week excursion in Spain (and other parts of Europe) we have come across many unique stories from Barcelona and the surrounding "Pueblos", like L' Autrodrom De Terramar, Artes, and Automoviles Utilitarios S.A.'s PTV, to name a few, and one such find is this very rare 1917 Briggs & Stratton Flyer from Milwaukee Wisconsin (USA).

This was a very unexpected find. We had just left the AUSA factory after speaking with the folks there about the history of their PTV vehicle, when Antoni and Xavier told us about Jant Joan, and the collection of micro cars he had restored.

This vehicle is powered by a fifth wheel (that contains the motor) and when a lever (that appears like a shifter) is moved, it drops the rear wheel, which makes contact with the road and pushes the car.
In 1908, an informal partnership was formed between inventor Stephen F. Briggs and investor Harold M. Stratton.

From there, Briggs & Stratton progressed to manufacturing automobile parts. Some of the parts the Company produced for the automobile industry included locks, switches, and igniters. In 1910 Briggs & Stratton incorporated, and due to the growing demand for automobiles, starter switches became the early mainstay of the Company’s business.

This informal partnership flourished into the Briggs & Stratton Corporation. Within the initial partnership, Briggs was the inventor and Stratton was the investor. This partnership first ventured into the automobile manufacturing business with this 1917 Briggs & Stratton Flyer.
It was restored, and is currently located at Autos Retro near Barcelona, Spain.

It may look like one half of a modular gas guzzling meanie, but this Dual Track Vehicle (DTV) by Canadian MIT genius Ben Gulak is a must have for the eco-lovers. Dubbed the Uno, the vehicle is something of a spiritual successor to the designer’s earlier attempt at making an Eco-friendly urban personal mobility solution called the Shredder. Even though the first look doesn’t do it justice, the aggressive recreational sports bike could be the industry frontrunner when single wheeled bikes become fashionable, sometime in the future.

It’s all matter of taste, but some people go so far that their opinions and attitudes defending the wrong way. The Facebook page of 813 Customs was so filled with invective, including some blatant racism, that the company’s owner had to respond, noting that he’s paid to build cars even when they’re not to his personal taste:

Listen its pretty disgusting the things people are saying, everybody has there owns styles, lifted trucks with mud tires, lifted cars with big wheels, lowered cars, racing riding lawnmowers, clothing, hair, etc. To judge a car with such ignorance is disgusting. If you really no what it takes to build a car and your a fan of cars you would respect every custom car for the time, effort and style that, that person came up with even its not your style. Building cars is a hobby for people PEOPLE DONT BUILD CARS TO MAKE ANOTHER PERSON HAPPY they build it to there own style and what they want.
