Fast forward to today, and the fact Yamaha have followed up the OX99-11 with precisely jack, and you understand why Spanish designer Albert Rosello has taken it upon himself to conjure up a modern-day supercar for the company.
Rosello’s Yamaha RCAR is; “the car with superbike soul” – according to the limited information he has provided for the design. Basically that means keeping the weight to a minimum while also providing plenty of oomf to allow for the best power-to-weight ratio possible.

In Rosello’s mind that would be 900 horsepower from a mid-mounted engine, and the car would weigh in at a mere 1,100 kgs (2,425 lbs). Sadly that’s all irrelevant as the RCAR is confined to the digital ether.
But perhaps, with a jumbo-sized heap of good luck, it’ll remind somebody at Yamaha that 20 years ago they made an epic supercar.
