FGR 2500 V6

V6 engines have never been a popular choice for motorcycle manufacturers, and 2.5 litre engines are also considered too large by most makers... In fact a 2.5 litre engine is the largest displacement of any current production bike!

However the Czech-based GP motorcycle racing team FGR - better known for their 125cc machines - has decided that for their first production bike they'll have a go at making a 240 horsepower monster which breaks all the rules.

It's taken six years to get the first prototype FGR 2500 V6 up and running - the initial idea was conceived by Miroslav Felgr in 2004

The Czech Ministry of Industry and Commerce helped with the development of the FGR Midalu 2500 V6 by providing some of the funding. However FGR turned to the public when it came to the styling. They held a series of design competitions which culminated in a winning proposal from Stanislav Hanus.

The FGR 2500 V6 is based around a trellis frame which neatly displays the massive engine. The seat unit and fuel tank are formed from carbon fiber to save weight while maintaining strength.

The engine itself is a water-cooled 2,442 cc, 90 degree, V6 which produces 240 horsepower and 200 Nm (147 lb-ft) of torque. The engine has been undergone testing and development since 2007 in readiness for its production debut in 2012.
