PONTIAC BANSHEE: T-TOP AND CONVERTIBLE ARE COMING

- 0 коментара

Remember the 2011 Pontiac Banshee model made by Hermance Design and Restore a Muscle Car? Probably Banshee and Lingenfelter TA are the best Pontiac conversions ever made so far. Both models are converted from 5th generation Camaro.
This time, Ben Hermance himself informed amcarguide.com: “We’re currently building a T-top car that Mike Lavallee of Killer Paint will be doing a custom flamed bird and graphics.  A Blue/White TA convertible that will follow that one.”
Sweet! Can’t wait for the real photos to come.

This Bonneville concept was specially built to be unveiled at GM’s Motorama back in 1954Pontiac Bonneville Special is the first ever  2-seater sports car Pontiac has ever produced.
“The Special” is an experimental grand touring coupe designed by Harley J. Earl and hand built by to crafters Paul Gilland and Homer C. LaGassey Jr. This Bonneville features all-plexi canopy with gull-wing panels and fiberglass body.
The Bonneville name was inspired after Earl’s trip to Bonneville salts. Many decades had passed and it became Pontiac’s top end performance platform since then.
Two prototypes were built – metallic bronco and emerald green. The aim was to unveil them simultaneously at Grand Ballroom and Pan Pacific Auditorium.

1970 FORD TORINO SUPER COBRA JET

- 0 коментара

Even though Ford Torino Cobra wasn’t as powerful as some other rivals, it was still a decent muscle car and strong enough on the road. The new 1970-1971 Torino was lower, wider, and longer with beautiful aerodynamic lines. 1970 saw the introduction of the 351 Cleveland engines in the Torino as well as the new 429 Thunder Jet, Cobra Jet, and Super Cobra Jet engine options. The top option of the 429 cubic engine was the 429 Super Cobra Jet which developed 375 HP. A regular 429 gained Super Cobra Jet [SCJ] name when the “Drag pack” was ordered. It required 3.91:1 or 4.30:1 axle ratio and included 4-bolt engine block, forged pistons, oil cooled, Holley carburetor and optional Ram Air induction which made no difference in power ratings.

‘Iron Man 3′ Rules The Global Box Office
“Iron Man 3″ hit a home run at the global movie theaters with a colossal overseas debut that overshadowed a gang of mercenary “Pain & Gain” bodybuilders in a pre-summer weekend at the domestic box office.
The Marvel Studios superhero sequel “Iron Man 3″ starring Robert Downey Jr. got a head-start on its domestic launch next Friday with a $195.3 million opening in 42 overseas markets, a distributor from Disney reported Sunday.
The box office smash topped the $185.1 million start for Marvel’s “The Avengers,” which opened in 39 markets over the same weekend last year a week ahead of its record-breaking domestic debut of $207.4 million.
“You don’t know that you could ever repeat the kind of experience we had a year ago, and here the Marvel team brought together another incredible movie,” said Dave Hollis, head of distribution for Disney.
“We’ve had this as a pattern for Marvel films to kind of let momentum internationally help signal to the domestic audience that the film is coming, something big is coming.”
“Iron Man 2″ debuted with $128.1 million during it’s first weekend in May 2010. Now “Iron Man 3″ , is estimated to do better.
“This ups the ante in a big way for “Iron Man 3,” a source says. “It just raises the profile of the film. It raises expectations. But to expect something in the realm of $207.4 million? Well, the fact that we’re even talking about it is really amazing.”
“Iron Man 3″ comes to theaters this Friday, May 2nd.

Mark Zuckerberg To Take $1 Annual Salary As Facebook CEO

It has been confirmed that Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg will be taking a $1 salary this year, and will be foregoing any bonuses, as well.
Zuckerberg can afford the pay cut, after cashing out on $2.3 billion worth of Facebook stock options before the company’s initial public offering last April.
Zuckerberg still holds another 60 million stock options he can exercise on November 7th, 2015.
“We don’t wake up in the morning with the primary goal of making money,” Zuckerberg said, something speaking to his drive to do something greater than merely make money.
Zuckerberg is not the first tech CEO to opt for the $1 salary, as Steve Jobs famously took the same pay annually starting in 1998, when he returned to the company as CEO.
In 2005, Google cofounders Larry Page and Sergey Brin along with then-CEO Eric Schmidt all took the massive pay cut, minimizing their compensation to $1.
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg takes away 93 cents per year for his mayoral duties, with 6 cents going to Social Security and 1 cent going to Medicare of his $1 salary.
This salary equates to 1.9 cents per week, and serves as more of a symbol than it does as monetary compensation.

Dodge Challenger Vapor U.S. Air Force

- 0 коментара

American tuners Galpin Auto sports have created this custom for the U.S. Air Force to wheel out on their 2009 Super Car Tour.  This will be used as recruitment tools for the  military outfit.

The Dodge Challenger Vapor takes a different approach and features an all black matte finish designed to create a stealth bomber affect. Everything is black except for the headlights and tail lamps. Even the wheels are completely covered.

The stealth-black Air Force Challenger ‘Vapor’ features a biometric access to open the Vertical doors, a custom Stealth body kit with Jet enhancements and a carbon fiber exterior trim.

Inside, there is an infrared thermal imaging system paired with a heads-up display running the length of the windshield. This car also features a jet cockpit with three large LCD screens and switches to run with just two mufflers in whisper quiet mode.

The jet like feeling also translates to the Dodge Challenger Vapor thanks to the "radar-absorbing" stealth-black paintjob.  The military aspects only begin with the exterior look; stealth exhaust lets the vehicle run in near silence, but the driver can open the headers to create a surprise aggressive engine noise.  The Vapor requires biometric verification to gain entry to the driver compartment.  Once inside, the driver can view the night and thermal vision as it is projected onto the windshield.

However, if the driver is unable to get into the car, he or she can still command the vehicle from a remote control system modeled after the Air Force's Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.  The remote system can be accessed worldwide through the internet.

The interior of the ‘Vapor’ is complete with aircraft style controls, a passenger side steering wheel, GPS tracking, night and thermal vision via a film on the front windshield, and the most technologically-advanced computer system with remote control UAV-type access from anywhere in the world utilizing the internet.

Other exterior components include one-off carbon fiber wheels, a custom stealth exhaust mode that allows the vehicle to run in complete silence or you can open up the headers to facilitate the aggressive sound of the engine, shaker hood, radar-absorbing paint, proximity sensors, and a 360-degree camera with ¼ mile range.

The ‘Vapor’ also comes with two custom flight helmets in line with the Air Force theme of the vehicle.

Widebody Dodge Challenger SRT-8 by Ultimate Auto

Car tuner from Florida Ultimate Auto has finished on a project based upon an SRT-8 widebody Dodge Challenger. They built complete composite body panels and re skinned the entire side of the car to make room for the massive footprint. The massive wheels are covered with wider, vented fenders. Other details include the hidden electric door handles that pop open the much wider doors.
They installed a new front bumper with revised openings lending a modern look while the hood features a clear plexiglass window to make the Magnacharger supercharger visible. The rear bumper surrounds a massive center exit exhaust tip that tops off the Magnaflow exhaust system. The body features a custom two-tone finish that adds to the menacing look of this Hemi.

As for the wheels, they fitted it with Savini Forged wheels sizing 24×15 inches on all four axles. The wheels come with a huge 12 inch lip and a custom matte charcoal finish not to mention the floating center caps. These wheels are then wrapped in Pirelli 405/25-24 tires.
Just a recap, the SRT-8 is powered by a 392-cubic inch 470-horsepower 6.4 liter HEMI V8 engine that does 0-60mph in high four-second range. Its MSRP is $45,125.

1968 L88 Corvette

Boasting a top speed of about 170 mph with a special order package, the 1968 L88 Corvette is thought to be the end-all, be-all in the Corvette world. The 550 bhp motor was designed specifically for racing and GM didn’t want the L88 on the open road due to its power. More standard features of everyday cars such as air conditioning and a radio weren’t even offered to make this powerful car less attractive to the common man.

Not the most powerful, the 1969 Z28 Camaro was built for the excitement of road racing and loved for its sense of style and handling capabilities. Perhaps one of the most stylish muscle cars, this Camaro could do a quarter-mile in 14.8 seconds though only at a speed of a little more than 100 mph. Despite that obvious lack of raw power, it was noted for its great handling with four-disc brakes, positraction and power steering.

Possibly the one to start the American muscle car craze, the Goat or 1965 Pontiac Tempest GTO option featured racing car options that remained inspirational long after it was out driven in speed and power. Regardless, this muscle car has the chops to make this list just by starting the phenom that has turned car enthusiasts into weekend warriors under the hood.

Muscle cars and e-bikes

- 0 коментара

muscle-cars-bikes1
Hello, guys! We strive to provide you with cool and unique articles about American Muscle cars and today we’re gonna talk about muscle cars and …. electric bikes. Yes, electric bikes![Via:musclevehicles.com]
You all know why carmakers build muscle cars – because people buy them, and they add luster to the brands. They’re wrapped up in the flag, right along with apple pie and motherhood. Does Car and Driver or Road & Track put Ford Fiestas on the cover, or Boss 302 Mustangs? Incidentally, that model first appeared in 1969 and 1970, which is when muscle car fever was in full bloom. No early muscle car had anything but a V-8 under the hood and that was amazing, but when you think about 1969 Boss 429 got 9-12 mpg on premium fuel.. well, that’s the other side of the coin. However, the new muscle cars era does better with about 17 mpg in the city and a credible 26 mpg on the highway. Back in the days the gasoline was 30 cents, now it’s $3.30 per gallon and don’t get me wrong – I love muscle cars, but recently I stumbled upon the Predator Offroad Electric Bike from REEF Bikes.
REEF Bikes is Australia`s Number 1 Electric Bicycle Brand providing quality electric bikes to suit your lifestyle. E-bikes are a fun and sustrainable form of transport – they help reduce traffic jams, C02 emmissions and public transport delays. Many people claim that cycling has its health benefits and that’s true, but what about people with health reasons, knee problems, etc. who love riding bikes? Well, as I said earlier, the Predator Offroad Electric Bike really got my attention.
With its 500 Watt powerful brushless electric motor, this bike can reach up to 30 km/h without pedaling within a few seconds! The dual disc brakes and monster dirtbike “Zoom” suspension take very good care of your safety, so that you may fully enjoy the offroad experience! According the specifications, the featured electric motor is powered by high quality Panasonic battery that fits inside the frame and you can go up to 50 km with one charge. Please note that it doesn’t charge while you pedal, because the aim is to make your pedaling easier, thanks to the Torque Sensor Pedal Assist.
Another cool feature is the 2 inch LCD digital display that will keep track of your speed, mileage, battery, etc. and the hydraulic suspension saddle will make your ride far more comfortable. I almost forgot about the Dual High-Beam Headlights – these provide great visibility and enhanced safety in low-light conditions. Anyway, you can view more details about this product at the manufacturer’s website.
In conclusion I will say that muscle cars will never die, despite President Obama is looking at a 56.2 mpg standard for 2025, but if you love cycling and want to do it in style, then you should definitely check out these e-bikes.

Irmscher-Roadster-Turbo-Sport-45-545x302
German tuner and motorsport brand Irmscher revealed the latest version of their Caterham 7 replica in form of the Roadster Turbo Sport 45. AS the name suggests, this car celebrates the Company’s 45th anniversary, and will be produced in limited numbers.
The Turbo Sport 45 has a classic sports car recipe with a tubular steel chassis as the base, and a plastic and aluminum body connected to it by a track-tuned sport suspension system. Retro design alloys and high performance brakes complete the work on the chassis.
With an overall weight of around 730 kg, the 45 didn’t need a big engine to be seriously quick. So it gets a 2.0 liter four-pot developing 265 horsepower and 400Nm of torque. Should be great fun to drive.
Compared to the previous version, the interior of the Turbo 45 is a tad more luxurious with premium leather upholstery, heated and ventilated seats, and a waterproof soft top.

LaFerrari HublotWith Ferrari’s recent debut of the LaFerrari super car, Hublot has joined forces with the Italian automaker to produce one of the finest timepieces we’ve seen this year. The Hublot Masterpiece MP-05 LaFerrari is stunning in every single way.

Now you have a watch to go with your Rosso Corsa red Ferrari LaFerrari. That’s if you can even get your hands on one. They’re only making exactly 499 of them! The watch’s claim to fame is a 50-day power reserve which is a world record for hand-wound tourbillon wristwatch. The watch also features Hublot’s signature watch components such as the open case back, black PVD titanium case and SuperLuminova markings for the watch’s hours/minutes/seconds.

Hublot x Ferrari

Also featured in the watch are power reserve indicators. The color accents on the watch are based off of the LaFerrari. There’s even a touch of carbon fiber to compliment the signature red. The Hublot Masterpiece MP-05 LaFerrari watch comes accompanied by a leather and carbon fiber case. Hublot is only making 50 of these timepieces which means that only 10 LaFerarri owners will get to rock the watch while driving the car at the same damn time!

Hublot

This is exclusivity at its finest. We’ve seen plenty of collaborations in the auto and watch industry but this is one of the most stunning collaborations we’ve seen so far to start the year! We’re interested to see if Hublot will make a few pieces with Lamborghini for their new $4 millon dollar Veneno. Time will tell.

Strangest Military Tanks Ever Designed - Part 2

- 0 коментара

5. Tsar Tank (Russia)

tsar-tank
The Tsar Tank was Russia’s answer to the problem of how to break through the German frontlines of World War 1. Unfortunately, as you can see, that answer was ridiculous. The Tsar was essentially a larger version of a tricycle, but with a cannon instead of a small child. However, whilst the first two wheels were stable enough to cross even the most treacherous terrain (and even crush a few trees), the little wheel at the back wasn’t so maneuverable. On its first test run, it got stuck in a patch of mud; since nothing could be found strong enough to pull it out, the Russians abandoned it until 1923, when it was dismantled for scrap metal.

4. Christie Amphibious Tank (USA)

Christie-Amphibuous-tank
Built by inventor J. Walter Christie in 1921, the Christie Amphibious Tank was intended to be used by the Army during beach landings, to both land on-shore and blow any enemy resistance to Hell. It was armed with a 75mm gun; however, the weight of the gun, combined with the weight of the quarter-inch armor that surrounded the sides, meant it came in at over seven tons in total. Shockingly, the military decided to pass on this tank, so Christie came back a few years later with a much lighter version, this time for the US Marines. They too passed on it, namely because somebody realized that it was open-topped, and that the soldiers inside might want a protective roof over their heads.

3. A7V (Germany)

A7V
The A7V tank was built and designed during the later stages of World War 1, in response to the tanks that the British were using on the battlefield. However, unlike the British tanks, the A7V was built by a tractor maker, a fact that was glaringly obvious to everyone that rode in it. It was basically a huge steel box fitted onto a tractor chassis. The only good thing about it was that it was well-armed; they had between 7-8 machine guns, with thousands of rounds of ammunition on board. Unfortunately, most never got to the battlefield, either because the crews kept passing out from the heat inside the tank, or because it kept getting stuck in the mud.

2. Antonov A-40 (Russia)

antonov-a-40
Not satisfied with the tank as a vehicle capable of destroying and driving over everything in its path, the Russians tried to make them even better by teaching them how to fly. Behold the Antonov A-40, basically a tank strapped to a glorified glider. However, in order to reduce the tank’s weight so that it was capable of flight, it had to be stripped of all its ammunition, a big problem when your main purpose is to fire this ammunition into the faces of the Nazis. Luckily, the Antonov never entered combat; the military test-flew it once and, despite its safe landing, they proceeded to forget about the whole thing.

1. Sherman Flail Crab (USA)

Sherman-Crab
The Sherman Flail Crab tank is proof that sometimes the craziest people in the office do the best job. Aside from being a fully-working Sherman tank, its main job was to clear minefields, by beating the daylights out of them with chains. On the front of the tank, its designers mounted a series of drums with chains attached to them, and a motor that would rotate the whole array. Upon reaching the minefield, the motor would be kickstarted, and the chains would spin round and round, harmlessly detonating any mines they came into contact with. All we’re wondering is why they bothered fitting this tank with a gun, when they could have just pointed it at the enemy and terrified them into surrendering.

10. Armored Quadricycle (Great Britain)

armored-quadricycle
Aside from being the first thing you’d think if you were asked what an armored vehicle designed by the British would look like, this 1899 vehicle is regarded as being one of the first tanks ever created. OK, so the armor only protects the torso of the driver / gunner but, thanks to the 1.5 horsepower engine, it doesn’t matter if their legs get shot off. Also, we can’t imagine this would get very far over hilly terrain, so it was lucky that this was never mass-produced.

9. 1K17 Szhatie (Russia)

1K17-Szhatie
Don’t let the massively boring name confuse you: the IK17 Szhatie was a fully-operational, laser-firing tank. Sure, it didn’t fire planet-destroying lasers like those on the Death Star, but they were equally as important. The lasers it fired were designed to permanently disable the targeting systems of enemy missiles, vehicles, or aircraft. In other words, if war had broken out and this thing fired at us, we wouldn’t be able to fire any accurate shots back using any of those machines we just mentioned. However, just in case any enemy forces got close to it, it was also equipped with an anti-aircraft gun on its roof. You can never be too careful.

8. Tortuga Tank (Venezula)

tortuga-tank
The Tortuga Tank was designed in 1934 and, like the Armored Quadricycle, was armed only with a machine gun. It was intended to scare the neighboring country of Colombia into not invading, but it’s hard to see why this would have worked. For one, “tortuga” is a translation of the word “turtle,” an animal not often associated with violence. Secondly, and we can’t state this enough; they look like armored pieces of poop, which is weird because they were supposed to resemble a British policeman’s helmet, which doesn’t say much for the guy who designed the damn helmet.

7. Krupp Kugelpanzer (Germany)

Krupp-Kugelpanzer
Also known as the “Ball Tank,” this specimen was captured by the Russians, in 1945 Manchuria. No other examples of this tank are known to have been produced, and next-to-nothing is known about it. The tank was powered by a tiny two-stroke engine, and its weaponry relied on whatever machine gun the driver had on hand at the time. As you tell, there was only room for one person in this so, if you ever get stuck fighting in one, bring some CD’s to keep you company.

6. Bob Semple Tank (New Zealand)

bob-semple-tank
During World War II, New Zealand saw that every other country had some tanks, and decided to make some themselves. However, without the industrial capability to do such a task, they settled on building a shed of corrugated iron on a tractor’s base. Named after their Minister of Works, Bob Semple, each tank was equipped with seven machine guns. However, the cramped conditions inside meant that one crew member had to shoot out of his firing hole whilst laying on a mattress covering the engine. After the tanks were ridiculed for their appearance, they never saw combat, although they did boost public morale all across the country.

Experience Carhenge

CarhengeStonehenge is cool and all but I’m thinking its time we all need to just move on and forget about the stone age. I mean, we weren’t even alive to witness it happen or to report the news on the infamous stone structure in England. Why bother anymore? We need a structure that represents us as we are today.

Carhenge

So, with that being said, ‘Carhenge’ – its basically Stonehenge but in Nebraska. Now I know that sounds terrible on paper but its actually not that bad. Many have traveled here to see the work of art already. Its different and something new for your Instagram account which is lacking just that!
Carhenge is a replica of Stonehenge, only made with automobiles instead of stones. Built using 38 former rides, its circle measures 96 feet in diameter, and the cars are placed to assume the same proportions as Stonehenge.

It’s open 24/7, and while you might see one at the original, we’re guessing Nebraska’s druid population is pretty small. – Gallivant

Versatility and accuracy are a must-have in urban combat, as well as being able to pick off targets at a range safe for you. The XM8 was designed to take the spot of the M16 along with a few others. Unfortunately, the XM8‘s production was canceled in 2005 due to a few serious problems like over-heating and military contract issues. The futuristic looking HK XM8 has the range and the accuracy to keep enemies off of you, while looking cool doing it. With a 30 round mag and the ability to add a grenade launcher, it keeps you busy- and the ability to hit all switches from either side makes it ambidextrous. I am hoping to see more of this rifle, or variants of it. Or I guess you could always find it in Call of Duty: Black Ops II.

As strange as it may look, this sci-fi looking sub machine gun, the Calico M960, might just be beastly in the best ways. With its over-barrel reloading mechanism and its under-barrel shell dispersal system, it reminds me of the P90, but it differs in a way that I’ve never seen. The SMG’s clip rotates in a circular motion, almost like a cork screw in a bottle, and its quick load magazine filler is VERY COOL. It’s got about a range of 990ft, and a great rate of fire at about 750 rounds per minute. With a 100-round helical mag and its weight being centered above the handle, its center of gravity increases accuracy, ensuring that you will hit your target! So load up and head out because you’re about to kick some serious ass

Next in this already beautiful line up is the FN P90. It is sleek, sexy, and all around a well-rounded gun. Rounds enter the chamber from the top using gravity to avoid chamber block, and shells are dispersed from the bottom, making it easy to avoid hot metal and shells popping in front of your face. This makes the gun, as well as the shooter, super-efficient. The P90 kicks out about 900 rounds per minute, an amazing firing rate, and has a range of about 660ft. This gun is pretty sweet.

This gun is budget friendly and is just all around sexy. The VSK-94 Is evolved from the 9A-91 carbine assault rifle. A few changes were made, such as a light weight stock and a cylindrical silencer assembly. Yeah, it’s pretty sexy and efficient, just saying

1969 FORD MACH 1

The sight of this ’69 Mach 1 was a real jaw-dropper for Billy Jay Espich. It was buried under insulation, wooden boards, and other “stuff.” Rust poked through the tops and sides of the fenders, though Billy Jay could see original paint and factory side stripes. The Mustang sat low to the earth wearing flattened Tiger Paw 70 raised-white-letter tires on Magnum 500 rims.
The Mach 1 resided in a “rundown, horrible garage” with an alley outlet in Indianapolis. The scene was eerie, to say the least.
What led Billy Jay, a custom pinstriper and painter from the Indianapolis area, to this car was his driving his own ’69 Mach 1 down the street. A mechanic at a BMW dealership noticed and made a point to brag about a ’69 Mach 1 he owned.

1969 Chevy Camaro – Completely Custom

- 0 коментара

While some people are happy going out and buying a new Camaro with all the modern bells and whistles, others want to transform old iron in to 21st century modern marvels. Such is the case with this 1969 Chevy Camaro being built by the master fabricators over at Greening Auto Company for customer Dale Stuban. As Jesse Greening told us, “We wanted to restyle the ’69 as though it was being produced by Chevrolet in 2011, with all of today’s available components.” They did, however, decide to forgo the typical LS engine and, in a nod to the past, power it with the biggest-inch engine currently available in GM’s inventory: a 572ci big-block. Also, since real hot rods have three pedals, that mill will be backed by a Tremec five-speed transmission
Under the reworked body is a tubular chassis designed by Art Morrison Enterprises with a C5 Corvette suspension up front and a Ford 9-inch bringing up the rear. Custom one-off 19- and 20-inch wheels will roll around Wilwood binders. In terms of bodywork, it would be easier to tell you what they didn’t massage, since every panel has been tweaked. As an example of the extreme work being done, over 90 percent of the roof was removed and replaced with a custom-formed piece of Lexan.

Is this the best looking Ferrari ever made? It’s certainly one of the most expensive; in fact, this is the most expensive car ever to be sold on eBay, at a ridiculous $3.26 million. There’s not too much to say about this car, purely because, well, look at it; have you ever seen such a beautiful and perfect car?
It’s hard to describe just how visually appealing the 250 GT is, but one buyer clearly thought their $3.26 million in the bank was due for some action, and subsequently bought one of the most praised and rare Ferraris ever made.
